Welcome Summer!

We had a delightful spring here….wet but cool and enjoyable. We were lucky to spend quite a bit of time outside eating dinner, enjoying the singing birds and taking in the fresh air. Now summer is upon us and hot and dry seem to be the order of the day. The forecast for the next few weeks doesn’t thrill me….over 100 degrees each day and humidity that makes you think that you are breathing through a hot, wet, wool blanket. Yuck!

Summer Solstice

But this is the longest day of the year (can’t prove that by the utter lack of things that I accomplished today) and and the first day of summer. Relish the day and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. Fireflies, birds fledging their babies and those damn cicadas! Yes, even the cicadas. For they too, signal summer and the warmth of the season.

A bit breezy this afternoon making it hard for even the dragonfly to hang on
Enjoy the summer days ahead!
